Welcome to GRASP-X v2.x.x
We are pleased to announce the release of GRASP-X (v2.x.x), a major update featuring a comprehensive redesign of the platform's computational framework and underlying architecture. A companion manuscript detailing the new capabilities, methodologies, and validation results has been (or will be) submitted for peer review.
The Shielding Parameters module available in previous versions, including the
Mass Attenuation Coefficient, Half-Value Layer (HVL), Effective Atomic Number
(Zeff), and Mean Free Path (MFP) calculations, remains unchanged in
terms of methodology and functionality. When the ANSI database is selected, these
calculations continue to rely on the validated XCOM framework presented in our
previous peer-reviewed publication. The only modification is the adoption of an improved log–log interpolation scheme in absorption shell-edge regions, implemented following the acceptance of that publication.
This release introduces photon buildup factor calculations based on two
databases: ANSI/ANS-6.4.3-1991 and the recently introduced Large-Scale Photon
Buildup Factor (LSPBF) database. This addition extends the shielding analysis
capabilities of GRASP-X by complementing attenuation parameters with photon
buildup factor calculations.
You are welcome to explore all features of the platform. Please note, however,
that the buildup factor module is based on methodologies that are currently under peer review
or will be submitted for peer review and may undergo minor revisions during the review process.
Accordingly, users are encouraged to interpret these results with appropriate discretion.
