GRASP-X

GRASP-X (Gamma Ray Attenuation & Shielding Parameters-eXtended) is a web-based code that provides:

  • Photon attenuation and shielding parameters, including mass attenuation coefficients (μm), effective atomic numbers (ZEff), and derived quantities such as the half-value layer (HVL), tenth-value layer (TVL), and mean free path (MFP).
  • Photon buildup factor calculations for penetration depths of up to 100 mean free paths using the ANSI/ANS-6.4.3-1991 and Large-Scale Photon Buildup Factor (LSPBF) databases.
  • Fast neutron removal cross section calculations.

To begin, click the Calculator button in the navigation menu or select GRASP-X. Additional information about the program, calculation methods, and references is available in the "Docs" page.
